The Israel-Europe R&D Directorate
ISERD – The Israel-Europe R&D Directorate - operated through the Office of the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Economy, is Israel’s official body responsible for the integration of Israel into the European Research Area (ERA). It promotes industrial and academic R&D cooperation between Israel and Europe through a variety of multilateral and binational platforms, including the EU Framework Programs: Horizon 2020 (2014-2020); programs co-funded by national and EU funds; Eureka; binational programs; and Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).
As Israel's official government interface vis-à-vis the European Commission, for all R&D-related matters, ISERD coordinates the activities of Israel's delegates to the program committees and the National Contact Points (NCPs).
ISERD records, conducts follow-up efforts and reports on the Israeli participation in the EU programs to Israel's policy-making bodies and government institutions. ISERD plays a vital role in future policy and collaborative efforts concerning RTD programs between the EU and Israel.
