'Be Smart, Think Blue' - Blue Growth Conference and Brokerage Event

BioHorizon, the ETNA2020 transport NCP network and the Maritime Institute in Gdansk have joined forces to strengthen Europe’s capacity for efficient blue growth. The joint 'Be Smart, Think Blue' Conference and Brokerage Event will take place in Gdansk, Poland, on the 19th and 20th September 2016.

Smart specialisation is a key concept for boosting innovation around the EU. Understanding the role of smart specialisation in enhancing the European blue growth sector is prerequisite to successfully availing of the sea of opportunities open to stakeholders. In addition to regional specialisation and funding, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020, holds several funding opportunities for marine and maritime R&I projects on a European scale. Creating synergies between all available funding sources is the ultimate goal of the 'Be Smart – Think Blue' event.

On the first of the two days the Maritime Institute in Gdansk will host a conference addressing smart blue specialisations with a focus on (but not limited to) the Baltic Sea Region, as part of their 'Smart Blue Regions' Interreg project, with day two to focus solely on brokerage for the upcoming blue growth topics in the Horizon 2020 SC2 (bioeconomy) and SC4 (transport) work programmes.

The aim of this two part event is to create an inspiring space and engender a spirit of effective cooperation amongst blue growth actors from across Europe.

Information and registration for the event can be found on the dedicated website: http://www.b2match.eu/smartblue2016

Interested parties can choose to register for one or both days of the event, which is free of charge. Registration is open now and will close on 5th September 2016 (or as soon as all places have been taken).
