Food 2030 Conference: Research and Innovation for Tomorrow's Nutrition and Food Systems

The FOOD 2030 event will consist of a number of pre-event workshops in the afternoon of 12th October that will be held in parallel to the FOODSECURE final conference. On that evening, an exhibition called "Food village" will be opened by a networking cocktail and can be visited until 13th October 3 pm. The plenary of the FOOD2030 High Level Conference will take place on the 13th October.

The event will provide a platform for dialogue that seeks to build on the political momentum for a coherent research and innovation policy framework for Food and Nutrition Security. The conference is an important step towards boosting future investment in research and innovation in support of impactful nutrition and food systems research breakthroughs, market-creating and open innovation, open science and multi-actor engagement building of capacities and skills; and strengthening global collaboration for improved research policy alignment.

FOOD 2030 will explore what is needed to transform and future-proof our food systems to be sustainable, resilient, competitive, diverse, responsible and performant in their provision of accessible, healthy and sustainable food and diets for all. Furthermore, FOOD 2030 will investigate how R&I systems can be scaled-up to better contribute to the following overarching priorities:

  1. Reducing hunger and malnutrition, addressing food safety and diet-related illnesses, and helping citizens adopt sustainable diets and healthy lives
  2. Building climate and global change-resilient food systems
  3. Implementing sustainability and circular economy principles throughout food systems
  4. Boosting innovation and investment, while empowering communities

The event will showcase innovative technologies and initiatives and will solicit ideas from policy makers, public authorities, industry, investors, R&I funders, civil society organisations, educators and entrepreneurs. It will help frame the food and nutrition security challenge through the need to future-proof our nutrition and food systems in Europe, but also in a global context.
